Members in Attendance: Chris Duke, Susan Hagerty, Tonya James, Sue Fletcher, Lois Spencer, Carly Hayes, Jackie Duffy, Bev Arms, Jayne Burger, Don Dudding
Tasks:
• Don distributed/obtained signatures for pay sheets; get all paperwork in SOON as OU cutbacks may affect how quickly paperwork gets handled.
• Bring applications for the SI 2009 interviews next week.
• Get tech survey out
Discussion:
• Don and Carly discussed the OCTELA Conference; there is a desire to form a state-wide network with other writing sites; suggested we connect leadership groups from these sites; Buckeye State Network (suggested name); do we want to appoint a person to represent the OUAWP in the state network?; send Don an email at don@dudding.net so he can put us in a group.
• Visual Media Workshop was held this week
• Grant writing team suggestion; NWP has archives of info about what program is and does; can use this to develop grant writing
• Political activism; develop contacts with various legislators; type in zip codes on websites to find legislators; statewide network could develop communication with legislators in Ohio.
• Pre-Institute Dinner: Chris volunteered to coordinate Pre-Institute Dinner on May 2; Bev to check out Wal-Mart for donations; original dinner plans scrapped because of funding cuts; Tonya James and Martha Walke will do teaching demos at the PID.
• Continuity Get-Togethers: spring get-together may be cancelled.
• The Write Spot Blog: Don will add teacher leaders to the blog; we need to email him; Chris suggested putting together a newsletter; she also says she will make a notebook.
• Tech. survey to come out on Survey Monkey and OUAWP Leadership Team notes will be posted on the blog
• Tanya volunteered to create a list of first year people to stay connected; Gina DeAndrea, a Logan-Hocking teacher and author, coming to summer AWP Institute to discuss her new book.

A Space to publish, rant, rave, and dream.
The Ohio University Appalachian Writing Project maintains a website (click here) to share information about who we are and the various writing-related activities we sponsor.
Recently, we decided it might be fruitful to have a web space that offers our teacher/writers room to share the writing they have been working on. Furthermore, we came to the conclusion that it would be useful to have web space available for comments, concerns, and community.
This is it. Use this space to publish whatever you want. Use this space to tell us and each other what's going on in your life. While each summer we will continue to give our new project participants a specific blog site dedicated to their individual programs, the purpose of this particular blog space is for you to make your words available to the world. Use this space both to publish your writing and to help us keep our writing community thriving.
Please feel free to use this web space to publish anything you've been writing and to pass along ideas, inspirations, and inklings. Also, as you read each other's work, feel free to give our fellow writers feedback and support.
I'm looking forward to reading what you come up with. . . okay, writers, go for it!

How to Join In!
Anyone can comment, but due to Uncle Google's Rules for setting up a blog, I have to accept you as an author in order to post.
That's no problem, really. Just email me (don@dudding.net) your email address, and I'll email you the request to join this forum as an author. That's all it takes. Really. No fine print commitment here, I just need you to send me your request.
Thanks,
Dr. Don
(Okay, I've only been Dr. Don for a week and half. Give me a month, and I'll go back to being just Don).
